BIRMINGHAM MOOR STREET STATION

Upon a short visit concentrating on the area around the West Midlands City of Birmingham. After a visit to Solihull, featured in Part 1, I made a trip to Moor Street Station in the city centre. A wonderful looking station which was opened to traffic in 1909, then in the ownership of the GWR Company. A newer station, which was a short distance from the original, opened in 1987. Then the two were combined into one station in 2002, when the original was reopened and restored; the newer station was rebuilt in a matching style. courtesy of wikipedia
The station serves many parts of the city and has a frequent service to and from London Marylebone, Stratford-U-A, and upon this visit some of the Marylebone services were Locomotive hauled. The station is now operated by Chiltern Railways and to the North Exit, on the through platforms Trains enter and exit Snow Hill Tunnel, allowing services to continue towards Kidderminster and beyond.
