6M51 Gets a SHOVE! | 66659 & 66057 on the Lickey Incline |
We begin on the evening of Wednesday 12th August 2026, where I head out to Oxford and capture two freight trains on camera.
We then fast-forward to Friday 14th August 2026, where the main event of the day is 6M51 โ 05:30 Cardiff Tidal T.C. to Burton Ot W Yd, hauled by Class 66 66659.
6M51 makes a lengthy stop at Bromsgrove, allowing passenger services to pass and also giving time for a banking locomotive to attach to the rear of the train for the climb up the infamous Lickey Incline.
The banking locomotive is Class 66 66057, which couples onto the rear of 6M51 to assist the heavy freight train up the steep gradient just north of Bromsgrove station.
With the stop at Bromsgrove giving me enough time to make a dash in the car, I head to Vigo Bridge, situated towards the top of the Lickey Incline.
While waiting for 6M51, we catch several passenger services before the main event finally arrives. We then see 66659 leading 6M51 with 66057 banking from the rear as the train tackles the Lickey Incline.
