The class 70 was working a light locomotive move from Bradwell sidings just west of Stoke On Trent North to Carlisle. Put on the slow line for 1S42 London to Glasgow to overtake which was running 13 late. Having got the signal driver in no hurry as signals ahead weren't to his favour.
