Since many of the southbound trains are headed to Felixstowe which handles 48% of the country's container traffic, it makes sense to utilise the Great Northern and Great Eastern Joint Line via Lincoln. It has benefited from major investment in track and infrastructure and terminates at the brand new Werrington dive under junction. It is a superb day and we jump in the cab of 66539 as it takes advantage of its higher gearing to get our train up to 70 mph in places.
