West Coast Railways Mark 1 & Mark 2 Coaching Stock on The Scarborough Spa Express
The train conveys a classic West Coast Railways charter rake comprised of British Rail Mark 2 passenger carriages presented in a distinctive split formation of retro InterCity Blue & Grey and WCR Maroon liveries, marshalled alongside a dedicated British Rail Mark 1 kitchen/buffet catering car in WCR maroon. This authentic rake is operating the outbound leg of The Scarborough Spa Express—West Coast Railways' famous summer mainline rail tour running coast-to-coast across the scenic landscapes of Lancashire and North Yorkshire from Carnforth to Scarborough via Skipton, Leeds, and York. Following passenger set-down at the terminus, the empty coaching stock (ECS) moves directly to Scarborough excursion sidings to stable for the afternoon before working the return evening service.
