Double Railtour Action at Crewe - The Retro Cestrian Bard & The Blackpool Express - 22/08/2026

Lots of action at Crewe Station on 22nd August 2026, with two Railtours due in at the same time.

Both tours were brought in with Class 37 locomotives, with the first to turn up being the Retro Railtours ’Cestrian Retro Bard’ from Stratford-upon-Avon to Stalybridge, hauled by 37423 ‘Perseus’ and tailed by 37407 ‘Blackpool Tower’
Shortly after that came in, the diesel substituted ‘Blackpool Steam Express’ came rumbling into the Station with 37669 at the front & tailed by a Class 47. The 37 was to be replaced with 86259 ‘Les Ross’ which was seen doing a bit of running around before the Charters arrival.
After the Blackpool Charter came in, 37423 then made its departure towards Stalybridge.
Finally, 86259 ‘Les Ross’ departed hauling the Blackpool Express Charter to London Euston.
