47727 To Long Marston, Round Oak Back OPEN After FIRE & 153379 TURNSBACK at Droitwich Spa |

Join me for a fantastic day of railway action around Worcestershire, visiting several locations to capture a great mix of freight, passenger and engineering movements — including some unusual workings and a few trains that don’t happen every day!

We start the day at Norton Junction, where we catch 47727 working 0V22 0713 Leicester L.I.P. to Long Marston GBRf.

We then stay at Norton Junction to see the first departure from Round Oak Steel Terminal following the recent fires in Stourbridge, which had resulted in the line between Kidderminster and Stourbridge being closed. We see 66659 working 6V05 0912 Round Oak to Margam T.C., passing through Norton Junction.

Next, we make our way to Abbotswood Junction, where 66786 passes northbound with 6M42 0936 Avonmouth Hanson Sdg GBRf to Penyffordd Cement GBRf.

We then head over to Droitwich Spa for something a little more unusual. Here we see 153379 working 2Q29 0750 Derby R.T.C. (Network Rail) to Droitwich Spa. After arriving at Droitwich, the unit makes an unusual turnback before departing again as 2Q30 1312½ Droitwich Spa to Bristol Kingsland Road — a move that doesn’t happen very often!

There’s more action to come as 47727 makes its return, this time hauling Class 350 350233 in tow on 5Q22 1234 Long Marston GBRf to Northampton EMD.

After Droitwich, we head to a new favourite location of mine — Tibberton Curve in Worcester — where we manage to capture three freight trains!

First up is 66756 working 6V84 0743 Clitheroe Castle Cement GBRf to Avonmouth Hanson Sdg GBRf.

Then we catch 66653 working 6V92 1322 Corby B.S.C. to Margam T.C., followed by 66606 working 6V54 1256 Radlett Private Sidings to East Usk Yard (FHH).

It was a brilliant day out with plenty of variety, some unusual movements and some great locations around Worcestershire. Tibberton Curve has definitely become a new favourite spot, and I’m sure I’ll be returning there again!
