A Teddy Bear on the GCR. 4K
I love the story of how they got their name. They were built at Swindon Works, and apparently the shop foreman said 'We've built the Great Bear, now we are going to build a Teddy Bear!'
During the 1960's/70's there were only two classes of diesel that I never saw in operation, the North British Diesel electric locos in Scotland and these class 14 on the Western Region. By the time they were built, the kind of work they we created for had disappeared. I have made up for that by having one running on my 0 gauge dcc-sound layout.
