37706 Thrashes Bamfurlong | 10th September 2026

West Coast Railways Class 37 Locomotive 37706 is seen thrashing loudly south along the west coast main line and through a wet and gloomy Bamfurlong south of Wigan after a rain shower on the evening of Thursday 10th September 2026.

The 37 was at the helm of the southbound return leg of another rendition of "The Dalesman" Railtour which runs regularly in season between Chester and Carlisle with a trip over both the line via Oxenholme and Settle. 34067 Tangmere was reportedly due to work the train from Hellifield to Carlisle and down to Carnforth but the engine failed at Hellifield with a hot axlebox.

The maroon livery always to me looks so dull and miserable especially in weather and light conditions light this. The sound track doesn't half make up for it. Fellow maroon Class 47 locomotive 47813 at the rear for shunting and empty stock drag purposes.
