Banbury Station on 28th August 2026 Part 2 of 3
Part 2 of 3
28th August 2026
Upon my return from Warwickshire, I called in at Banbury Station just thinking I would spend a couple of hours there. But as there was a severe warehouse fire just outside London Marylebone Station and Chiltern Services were temporarily suspended, I stayed on and ended up being there for over 6 hours. Traffic picked up throughout the afternoon and quite a few Freight trains were seen. I amassed nearly over 100 minutes of film, so have decided to make this feature into 3 parts. This second part covers my time there from around 13.12 until around 15.10 Some of the Birmingham Moor Street services were Mk5a + Class 68 formations, the Locomotive being situated at the North End of the train.Cross Country services were in the hands of Class 220/221 Voyagers and most of the Freightliners were in the hands of a variety of liveried Class 66's. Disruption to services Southbound and Northbound occured, due to the fire outside London Marylebone and congestion in the Reading area, which led to Cross Country services being terminated before reaching their destination. Freight dropped off, but picked up again later as seen in part 3. In this part of the video there are examples of DMU Class 165 and 168 on Chiltern services and Great Western Services to be seen.
The majority of Freight is container traffic to and from Southampton bound for various locations North and are hauled mainly from the Gbrf sector in the 3 part feature. I do hope you enjoy this 3 part feature covering the hours from 11.30 to when I left, well overstaying my welcome at 17.45. I do hope you enjoy this feature and feel free to comment. Give the video a like or subscribe to the channel. Your interest is always very much appreciated.
A big thank you to the station staff at Banbury for allowing me access to the platforms for the purpose of making this video.
Also to the likewise photographer, SouthernRailSpotter who supplied valuable running information on the freights to the North and South...Much appreciated
