On Saturday 12th September 2026, the Branch Line Society ran an excursion from Alexandra Palace to Edinburgh. Called the 'Toots Express', the excursion train had class 50 locomotives 50049 'Defiance' and 50007 'Hercules' on the front, with 57306 'Branch Line Society' on the rear. The train is seen here passing through Gainsborough Lea Road, and shows how close the train came to being photo-bombed by a Northern class 158 on a service from Leeds to Lincoln.
