BUSY Tyne Valley diversions! Azumas, Engineers + Regular trains thru Haltwhistle Sunday 20 Sept 2026

Sunday 20th September 2026 at Haltwhistle on the Newcastle & Carlisle (or Tyne Valley) line. Another day of diverted LNER Anglo-Scottish services with the added bonus of four Engineer's trains returning to Carlisle Yard after taking track materials ad ballast to the permanent way works north of Newcastle.

On Sundays many of the hourly Newcastle - Carlisle Northern trains are run s 4-car sets, unlike weekdays with the half-hourly service of 2-car sets. One LNER train each way is slotted in to run non-stop.

For info, the old signalbox, a Listed building, dates from 1901 and was closed in 1993.
