๐ง LEICESTER STATION REOPENS AFTER A MAJOR WEEKEND OF ENGINEERING WORK!
After Leicester Station closed on 19th and 20th September 2026, I headed straight back on the reopening day to see the results of the major engineering project. The entire length of Platform 3 has been relaid, giving the station a completely refreshed appearance.
Alongside the new infrastructure, this video features over 40 minutes of passenger, freight and engineering action, including Class 810 Auroras, Meridians, CrossCountry, Freightliner, DB Cargo, GBRf, the rail grinder "Martin Elwood" and plenty more.

Today's visit takes us to Leicester Station on 21st September 2026, the very first day after the station reopened following a major engineering blockade.
During the weekend, engineers completely renewed the track through Platform 3, and throughout today's video you'll be able to compare the newly laid track with the rest of the station while enjoying a wide variety of railway action.
One thing that stood out was just how quiet Leicester Infrastructure Park (L.I.P.) was, with only a single movement during my visit.
