ππ¨ AUTUMN DIESEL BASH 2026 β DAY 2 AT BEWDLEY | SEVERN VALLEY RAILWAY
After a fantastic Day 1 at the Severn Valley Railwayβs Autumn Diesel Bash, Day 2 certainly lived up to expectations!

Now onto Day 2β¦
Join me for a full morning of diesel action at Bewdley Station on the Severn Valley Railway, filmed on Friday 2 October 2026, during Day 2 of the four-day Autumn Diesel Bash, held from Thursday 1 to Sunday 4 October.
The annual Autumn Diesel Bash sees the Severn Valley Railway come alive with an intensive diesel timetable between Kidderminster and Bridgnorth, featuring an impressive mixture of classic British diesel traction.
For this video, I spent the morning at Bewdley capturing plenty of arrivals and departures, including some fantastic top-and-tailed workings, hard-working departures and plenty of full diesel thrash! ππ¨
There was also the opportunity to witness one of the great features of traditional railway operation at Bewdley: token exchanges between locomotive crews and the Bewdley signaller as trains continued onto the single-line sections.
Seeing these exchanges taking place alongside heritage diesel traction, semaphore signalling and the atmosphere of a busy gala really does provide a true railway heritage experience.

β οΈ THE CLASS 20 MYSTERY β WHERE WAS 20189?
One question from the morning concerns 20189.
The event information suggested that a pair of Class 20s was hoped for, but on the workings I witnessed that were rostered for Class 20 traction, only 20048 appeared to be present.
So what happened to 20189?

ποΈ TOKEN EXCHANGES AT BEWDLEY
One of the highlights of spending the morning at Bewdley was seeing numerous token exchanges between the train crews and Bewdley signaller.
With single-line sections forming part of the route, these exchanges are an important part of traditional railway operation. Watching them take place while classic diesel locomotives prepare to continue their journeys adds another dimension to the experience.
For railway enthusiasts, itβs not just about the locomotives β seeing the signalling and operational side of the railway in action makes the experience even better.
π TURN UP THE VOLUME!
There was certainly no shortage of noise at Bewdley!
From D821 Greyhound and the mighty Class 52 Westerns to the unmistakable D8568 Clayton, there was plenty of classic diesel sound as locomotives worked hard away from the station.
Add in top-and-tailed workings, full-throttle departures, token exchanges, semaphore signalling and an intensive timetable, and Day 2 proved every bit as enjoyable as the fantastic first day of the event.
If this was only the morning, there was still plenty more diesel action to come!
