Peterborough in 2004 – GNER, HSTs & the Incredible White Rose Eurostar
Step back to **Peterborough Railway Station in 2004**, when the East Coast Main Line was dominated by the distinctive dark blue trains of GNER and the station was a fantastic place to watch Britain's railway in action.
In this video, we return to Peterborough more than 20 years ago to see the trains, services and atmosphere of this important East Coast Main Line station.
Expect to see the familiar **GNER InterCity 125 HSTs and InterCity 225s**, alongside regional and local passenger services passing through this busy railway junction.
But there's also something particularly special to look out for — the **White Rose**, GNER's remarkable domestic service operated using a Class 373 Eurostar train.
Originally built for international journeys through the Channel Tunnel, these huge streamlined trains were briefly used by GNER between London King's Cross and Leeds. Seeing a Eurostar racing along the East Coast Main Line towards Yorkshire was certainly one of the more unusual sights on Britain's railway network.
Join us as we return to **Peterborough in 2004**, during an era that already feels remarkably different today.
Did you visit Peterborough during the GNER years? And did you ever see or travel aboard the White Rose Eurostar? Let me know your memories in the comments.
