Severn Valley Railway - Spring Diesel Gala (2023)

Presenting to you the longest ever diesel gala video that has ever been put together, much longer than the Great Central Railway one from April this year, we now present to you the Severn Valley Railway Spring Diesel Gala of 2023, with the runtime of this video being over one hour and twelve minutes long!
With over 18 diesel locomotives in action, the GWR HST cabs are counted as individual locos, the spring diesel gala festival at Severn Valley Railway was a very busy one at that, especially since this year marks 50 Years of Diesel Preservation.
Special guests such as the ScotRail Class 47 with the Push-Pull stock, the GWR HST castle set, and two locos from the DRS fleet made the event all the more amazing and with such lovely warm sunny days seen throughout the event, with the home fleet locos participating in all the fun.
We unfortunately didn't get to catch the DBC Class 60 guest engine owing to going to the railway on two separate days, but we enjoyed ourselves tremendously with plenty of loco haulage action going on. We also didn't end up filming 50035 and D8568 because we were occupied with getting the ScotRail and HST sets.
We were initially only going to the diesel gala event on the Thursday only, but an unexpected incident with a person who escaped from Kidderminster Court and trespassing on both the heritage and mainlines resulted in both being temporarily closed off and causing severe delays along the line. As a result, we ended up losing about two hours of our time, and we were also running short of time with our train service back home too. The trespassing incident was unexpected and there was nothing anyone could do about it.
So, we made a return to the railway on the Sunday of the event, where the last day proved to be very busy and very sunny for us, and we managed to make up for the time we lost on Thursday by filming plenty of diesel locomotives and riding the trains in between.
We hope you enjoy this video, as we have enjoyed being a part of the railway's diesel gala, which has since become a tradition of ours since 2019.
