Dean Forest Railway - Diesel Gala Weekend - 13/09/25 + 14/09/25

The Autumn Diesel Gala was once again in full swing at the Dean Forest Railway, with this year's event featuring the two home fleet shunters, 09106 & 08769, and two special guest visitors in the form of Deltic D9009 'Alycidon' and 50021 'Rodney', all of which were running along the DFR and bringing in lots of excited passengers and many diesel enthusiasts.

On Saturday, 08769 became a little poorly due to an unforeseen circumstance that happened before the start of the event, so 09106 ran the 'Set B' stock of carriages on its own for the majority of the day, until the Class 08 was repaired and returned to service in the late afternoon. 08769 would later fully perform on the Sunday of the event without anymore problems.

Meanwhile, D9009 & 50021 worked on the 'Set A' stock of carriages, which included a Break van being used to give passengers the chance to ride behind the two locos from Lydney Junction to Parkend.

D9009 'Alycidon' was the main star of the event, and she performed faultlessly along the DFR, performing mighty thrashing noises and blasting off her horn to give her spectators some much needed excitement.

The event was also the very first time that both Class 55 and Class 50 ran on the Dean Forest Railway, so it was more than special to see these two locos running through the forest and making quite the noise over the two days.
