Birmingham New Street - a selection of photos taken over the years....
I'm not the best at recording dates, but think I've got all loco numbers, and I've added the year where I made a record of it..
There are a number of different liveries, and the station/skyline changes as the station itself has been 'redeveloped' (it's still a dark dingy hole though) also the was Bullring has been demolished and rebuilt along with the 'iconic' Selfridges building.
New Street was always an interesting and busy station, especially in the days when diesel/electric locos were stabled and swapped on North West/East to South West services.
Loco's included:
08604 'Phantom' (1986), 25275, 37023, 43121, 47841 'Spirit of Chester', 50002 ' Superb' (1987), 50009 'Conqueror' (1983), 50021 'Rodney', 50027 'Lion' (1985), 50041, 86210 'C.I.T 75th Anniversary (2002), 86252 'Liverpool Daily Post', 86259 (2002), 86261 (2002), 87012 'Coeur-de-Lion (x2 - one undated but in BR blue, the other in Virgin livery in 2002), 87023 'Polmadie', 153379 & 170521 both in Central Trains livery, 220016, 390034 'City of Carlisle', a unknown Class 310 unit and 302212 in Network South East livery. The 'Peak' isn't actually in New Street, but is on the Camp Hill line around Saltley on a Footex service, avoiding the centre of Birmingham.
