The Year of the Veterans (2020)

Although the UK has been in and out of lockdowns, caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, 2020 has been quite a year for first generation diesels in the South Wales area, with this film showcasing the many workings that we have filmed which featured first generation diesel locomotives.

The main highlight of the year for us has definitely been the Class 20s on the GWR HST scrap stock in May. This was very important to the year, because these diesel locos very rarely come down into South Wales, and since the Mark 3 stock was being scrapped at Newport Docks, this proved to be a very high opportunity for us to go and catch them on film.

We have even included the NHS Spitfire that we had filmed in August, because while it's not related to trains, it's still a very old veteran aeroplane, and so, we felt it was appropriate for us to incorporate it into the film.

April was the only month in 2020 that didn't feature any first generation action, due to the Covid-19 Lockdown.

To put it simply, 2020 has been the Year of the Veterans.
