A visit the Sandiway Miniature Railway - Episode 17 of Miniature Railway Britain
Starting in a residential area of Northwich in Cheshire we find the awesome Northwich Viaduct which carries the Mid Cheshire Lines Committee Mid Cheshire Railway Mid Cheshire Railway over The River Weaver Navigation. We discover the Northwich Locks which are unusual in that they have semaphore signals! After walking over a suspension bridge we walk along the River Weaver to a spectacular weir before going to Waitrose to get a coffee.
From Waitrose we drive in my Lada Riva 1.5 E Estate to Blakemere Craft Village where we find the Sandiway Miniature Railway which is run by the Mid Cheshire Society of Model Engineers. We have a trip behind a Scamp locomotive No. 049 in British Rail Large Logo Livery, the smallest Large Livery locomotive capable of pulling a passenger train I've ever seen!
After a trip on the miniature railway we then have a look at how the railway is expanding and walk the trackbed of their extension which construction of is due to commence shortly.
