The Flying Scotsman at the Severn Valley Railway - Sunday 27th July, 2025

Yesterday, we ventured to the Severn Valley Railway to travel behind the world's most famous steam engine, LNER A3 Pacific 60103 'Flying Scotsman', which had re-opened the full line back up to Bridgnorth on Friday, after a landslip in January 2025 caused significant damage to the line, with the repair works being completed in time for Scotsman's special guest visit to re-open the line.

The film was made with a mix of Sony photo camera footage and iPhone footage, for our 4K camera had officially broken down back in 2024.

Flying Scotsman ran three fully booked trips over the re-opened Severn Valley line from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth, where on Saturday and Sunday, it ran alongside the home fleet engines during the 'Swinging Sixties' event that was held to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Severn Valley Railway (1965-2025).

I was very lucky enough to grab myself tickets to ride behind Flying Scotsman, as getting a ride on her had been my lifelong dream and an important wish on my bucket list, and so I was really happy to have finally fulfilled that wish. Tickets had sold out within less than three minutes of going on sale, so I had to act really fast to get them.
