Twelve Months of Trains (2020) - January - Trains at Cardiff Central - 22/01/20

A month later than planned, but I have finally gotten around to uploading this film of the trains we filmed around Cardiff Central, from Wednesday 22nd January, 2020. This was the only film that was made for January, as we have been very busy recently.
Wednesday 22nd January saw us take a trip down to Cardiff Central to catch the Class 37s on the Rhymney to Cardiff Central loco hauled service train early in the morning. While we were waiting, we filmed a variety of trains, ranging from Sprinters, Pacers, Freight and the former Greater Angelia 170 units now working with Transport for Wales services.
However, it soon turned out that 37418 had broken down at Lisvaine and Thornhill, due to a coolant leakage, and this put the Valley Lines into delayed chaos. So, 37025 'Inverness TMD' was sent to rescue the unit, and this became the highlight of our day, because not only would we get to see a double-headed Class 37 train at Cardiff, but we could also see the rescue in action.
The One Wales Express was also in action, heading into Canton Sidings after completeing it's morning Holyhead to Cardiff express run, with DB 67001 seen in blue livery to match up with the carriage stock. It was the first time we've seen the matching loco with it's stock in a few years, since the train usually varies with different Class 67 liveries.
After the rescue operation, we took a quick visit to Grangetown, before returning to Cardiff, where we then filmed regular trains like the GWR Hitachi bullet trains and usual freight workings. The Network Rail 125 NMT HST was also seen in action, running from Landore to Derby RTC (Network Rail).
Finally, we filmed three trains at Newport (South Wales), with one of them being the Hitachi now running on electric pantograph power, as the line from Cardiff Central to London Paddington has now been fully electrified.
Despite being a month late for uploading the film, we hope that you will enjoy what we have filmed over a month ago in January. There will be more videos of trains at different locations to come in 2020.
