'English Riveria Express' - Shrewsbury to Kingswear - 10/09/22

Two weeks late on making this little film, but here is our coverage of the 'English Riveria Express' railtour charter that we went on together from Cwmbran to Kingswear, on Saturday 10th September, 2022.

LSL 47805 & 47828 top and tailed the railtour from Shrewsbury to Taunton, where BR-Standard 70000 'Britannia' was then placed on for the run through Dawlish down to Kingswear, giving us a visit to the Dartmoor Steam Railway.

When we arrived, GWR Prairie Tank 'Goliath' was just leaving the station with a passenger service. This was filmed from the window of our carriage, which was within the buffet car coach. We then proceeded to spend the next half an hour filming the shunting movements in preparation for the tour's return journey home on the station.

Afterwards, we took the Tugboat Ferry over to the town and filmed the cars loading onto the ferry, which even included both a Ford Mustang and an Eletric powered car. After having chip shop for dinner, we returned to the station to film Prairie Tank 4277 coming into Kingswear and then leaving again.

Later that night, we returned to Cwmbran, where 47805 had been placed back on at Taunton and returned the train to Shrewsbury. We really enjoyed this lovely railtour trip and it was our first tour trip on a train since June 2019.

The majority of the Kingswear station scenes were filmed by Scott Coombes, while I filmed the two Cwmbran station scenes and the Tugboat Ferry shots.
