Player
Description
West Coast Railways Class 47 No. 47804 was the star guest locomotive at the Severn Valley Railway’s Autumn Diesel Bash, held from Thursday 1st to Sunday 4th October 2026.
This year’s Autumn Diesel Bash took a slightly different approach to previous SVR diesel galas. Rather than featuring a large number of visiting locomotives from the mainline and other heritage railways, the event focused on showcasing the railway’s impressive home fleet, with just one special guest locomotive in the form of West Coast Railways’ Class 47 No. 47804.
The four-day event featured an intensive diesel timetable between Kidderminster and Bridgnorth, giving enthusiasts plenty of opportunities to enjoy a fantastic variety of heritage diesel traction along the Severn Valley.
In this video, we follow 47804 working services along the line, capturing the locomotive at various locations throughout the event, including:
🚂 Kidderminster Town Station
🚂 Bewdley Station
🚂 Northwood Lane, just north of Bewdley
🚂 Arley Station
With its unmistakable Class 47 sounds and appearance, 47804 certainly made an excellent addition to the event, providing a taste of mainline diesel traction alongside the SVR’s resident fleet.
The Autumn Diesel Bash also featured an impressive selection of home fleet locomotives, including Class 14 D9551, the unique Class 17 ‘Clayton’ D8568, Class 33 33108, Class 42 ‘Warship’ D821 ‘Greyhound’, Class 46 46045, Class 50 50033 ‘Glorious’, Class 52 ‘Westerns’ D1015 and D1062, and the Class 108 DMU.
Despite having only one visiting locomotive, the event provided a fantastic opportunity to appreciate the Severn Valley Railway’s own diesel collection, with 47804 adding something special to the proceedings.
Sit back and enjoy the sights and sounds of West Coast Railways Class 47 No. 47804 working through the beautiful Severn Valley during the 2026 Autumn Diesel Bash!
