Ely Station on 11th September 2026 Part 2 of 2 (16.10 - 18. 15)
Part 2 of 2
(16.10- 18.15)
11th September 2026
Arriving at Ely Station around 11.20 am on this day, I was soon to learn that a tragedy had occurred just Up the line, where a person had sadly lost their life, having being hit by a train. Firstly my thoughts go to the families and friends involved in this incident and also to the train crew who would have been affected as well. Following the disruption to services on the lines to Peterborough and Cambridge, once the service had returned to some normality, due to well planned actions taken by the railway staff, the majority of trains ran and freight services returned. On this visit on the 11th, I have split into 2 parts and one more part covering the 12th, which includes a special railtour with class 50 Locomotives. However on the 11th, I witnessed Class 37s on a test train, 66s on freightliners to and from Felixstowe and all the types of EMUs on Cambridge, King's Lynn services and DMU Classes on the Peterborough/Norwich route and Cross Country Services. This second part covers the time period of from 16.10 until around 18.15, when I had to leave. The next feature covers the first hour or so from the next day, where a Rail Tour bound for Edinburgh is captured on film.

A big thank you to the station staff at Ely for allowing me access to the platforms for the purpose of making this video on what was a rather difficult day.
