π GWSR Mixed Traction Extravaganza 2026 | Steam, Diesels & Toddington Depot
Join us at Toddington Station on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway (GWSR) for the Mixed Traction Extravaganza, held over the weekend of 10th & 11th October 2026!
This fantastic event brought together an exciting mixture of steam and diesel traction, with an intensive timetable featuring passenger services, goods trains and local stopping services operating along the full length of the heritage railway.
In this video, we spend around an hour at Toddington Station and Toddington Locomotive Depot, which was specially opened to the public for the event, giving visitors the opportunity to get a closer look at the locomotives and ongoing restoration projects.
π Highlights from our visit include:
π₯ Steam locomotives 2807, 3850 and 6880, all in service during the event.
π The distinctive Class 121 Bubble Car W55003, adding some classic diesel railcar variety to the proceedings.
π A look inside Toddington Locomotive Depot, featuring an interesting selection of diesel locomotives and restoration projects.
π An impressive O Gauge model railway layout on display, with plenty of detail to admire.
πΉ Plenty of steam and diesel action around Toddington Station, showcasing the variety of traction taking part in this special weekend.
Although we were only at Toddington for around an hour and didnβt manage to see every locomotive operating during the gala, we certainly captured a fantastic variety of railway action in a relatively short space of time!
The Mixed Traction Extravaganza was a brilliant opportunity to experience the GWSR at its busiest, with steam and diesel locomotives sharing the railway, alongside behind-the-scenes access to areas not normally open to visitors.
A great event for railway enthusiasts, photographers and anyone who enjoys the sights and sounds of Britainβs heritage railways!
