North East 60s: the Tyne Biomass Trains 06 October 2026

6th October saw me head to Newcastle. Michael had told me that Class 60s were back working the Biomass trains between Tyne Coal Terminal and Lynemouth Power Station. Together we saw the trains at Newcastle Central station, Seaburn, Newsham and Ashington. Additionally there was a Swietelsky Class 37 on a test train, laying over between runs, the Nunthorpe RHTT with Class 56s heading for Carlisle and the Mossend to Rotherham Masborough intermodal.
Some of the new Metro trains at Seaburn and 156s and 158s at Newcastle and up to Ashington.
