Small Mixed Variety at Newport (South Wales) - 11/01/21

Channel: S.T.C Rail Productions

Description
The first mainline video of 2022, where we take a look at Newport (South Wales) on a quiet day, where two hours were spent filming passenger services and a couple of other bits.

The morning started off with a bit of congestion going on in the station, with Great Western services arriving and leaving in Platforms 1 and 2, with Temporary Speed Restriction signs seen on the tracks during the day.

Most of the variety seen in this short film contains passenger services for GWR, TFW and CrossCountry.

Two of the mainline highlights for the afternoon were the appearances of both ROG 57312 on a 365 EMU scrap move from Belmont to Newport Docks, and two Network Rail Class 73s (73951 & 73952) on a rare outing to South Wales top and tailing a test train from Derby to Cardiff.

And of course, DB Cargo Class 66s were seen on regular steel freight trains throughout the day.

The Class 73s were an excellent way to start off the 2022 railway season.

We hope you look forward to more of our railway content in the new year.
