Over the weekend, while we were seeing a friend of ours over in South Devon for two nights, we took the time to film some trains on the Devon mainline, mainly filming at Dawlish, which has plenty of spots to film from, with a couple of shots on Exeter St Davids and a trip down the newly re-opened Okehampton branch line.
We filmed mostly Great Western Railway passenger services that featured DMUs, Castle Class HST sets and Class 800 Hitachi bullet trains, with two CrossCountry Voyagers and even South Devon Railway Class 159 units, one with former East Midland Trains livery and new SDV white and grey colours.
The Okehampton line was re-opened to mainline passenger services for the first time in 50 years, and we enjoyed the journey down the branch line.
Trains run for seven days a week, with one passenger service travelling to Exeter St Davids every two hours.
