Blaenavon Railway: Hunslet Tank 'Brookes No. 1' - Sunday 1st September, 2019
Oh well, better late than never.
We went up to the Blaenavon Railway to see pre-Steam Gala guest engine 'Brookes No. 1' running on a regular weekend service, with Alex Hinshelwood providing a nice little welcoming message to the start of the video. 'Brookes' is quite a smokey engine too, as there was a lot of grey steam puffing out of it's funnel.
The day itself on Sunday 1st September was the start of the autumn season coming in, as some parts of the day was windy and a bit chilly, although the sun did shine down for most of the day. After having an extremely hot summer between July and August, it was somewhat relieving to have a cooler day instead of a hot one.
Two shots from the carriage sheds were actually unused footage that we filmed on Monday 26th August, 2019. The shot of 'Brookes' pulling out of the carriage shed with the mark ones coaches was filmed during the Transport Rally weekend. We didn't film much for that event, as the weather proved way too hot for us to even stay for a full day, and we ended up leaving earlier than usual.
So, to save some time from filming at the same location again, I decided to put this piece of stock footage to good use.
We enjoyed the day nevertheless on September 1st, and the weather was a lot cooler than the previous week. We will be attenting the 'Built in Leeds' Steam Gala event, where 'Brookes' will run alongside 'Jessie', 'Empress', 'Rosyth' and ‘Illingworth’.
Filmed on Sunday 1st September, 2019.
