56096 brings replacement RHTT wagons to Wales + 69005 'Eastleigh' on engineers freight and MORE!

A short offering from good day exploring the mainline beginning at Westbury and some surrounding areas of interest! We start at Westbury station, which was fairly active this with a selection of DB Class 66s showing well in the yard and shunting around. I had learned that the recently arrived Colas 56096 had left light engine before I arrived on a path to Swindon, where it would be sent to take a replacement RHTT unit down to Port Talbolt and so after studying the path, I headed to Bristol Parkway.

At Bristol Parkway we see the Grid passing through, and I then jumped on a GWR IET which followed in hot pursuit and overtook the 56 on the fast allowing for another opportunity to catch 56096 making a brief stop at Cardiff Central.

I then headed back to Westbury where day finished with 69005 'Eastleigh' working a GBRF engineers out of Westbury Down Yard which we see passing through Dilton Marsh. | 14.10.2026
