Convoy as Rail Adventure Power Cars 43465 + 43484 run 60103 'Flying Scotsman' from Didcot to Swanage

After the recent visit of A1 Pacific 60163 'Tornado' to the swanage Railway for their Autumn Steam Gala https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhB6OK2mbqM&t=6000s another LNER Pacific headed to the Swanage Railway today in the form of the World Famous LNER A3 60103 'Flying Scotsman'!

Following its Fox & Edwards Didcot Circular tours last weekend https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iy7uaiIzEA the A3 spent a couple of days at Didcot Railway Centre, and the original move which was postponed yesterday happened today seeing Rail Adventure Power Cars 43465 + 43484 moving the Pacific in convoy from Didcot to Swanage.

We catch the convoy passing through a very busy Wareham, before catching up with the consist at Swanage, where 'Flying Scotsman' shunts round its support coach, and propels back into the siding while the Power Cars prepare to work down the line to Helston Carriage Shed where they will stay for the duration of 'Flying Scotsman's' Swanage visit.

As an interesting side note 'Flying Scotsman' went to America in 1969 accompanied by the Devon Belle Pullman observation carriage (Car 14) for a four-year tour lasting until 1972 to promote British exports, the very same Devon Belle Pullman observation carriage which now resides at Swanage so a nice little rendezvous these two will have again on the line.

'Flying Scotsman' will be running along the Swanage Railway on 24, 25, 28, 29 October & 1 November, with additional opportunities to see it up close on static viewing days. | 21.10.2026
