The Welsh Marches Railtour & TFW Services - Abergavenny - 26/02/22

To catch UK Railtours 'The Welsh Marches' along our local line, we decided to take a trip over to Abergavenny railway station for a change of scenery.

While waiting, we filmed several TFW 175 units under the semaphore signals, as well as a double TFW 153 unit service. After over an hour of waiting, DB Cargo 67020 trundles through Abergavenny on 'The Welsh Marches', heading on a circular run from Stevenage to Hereford.

We initially believed that the charter was steam hauled, but much to our surprise, it turned out to be Class 67 hauled, which actually made it a rather different and interesting sight to see. The driver did sound the horn and gave the loco a bit of power for the camera.

Meanwhile, Pontypool & New Inn railway station will be getting a major redevelopment upgrade, which commences on Monday 28th February, 2022, so we took the time to film the station in its unchanged form before work begins on it.
