Rail Freight at Panteg & Pontypool - Thursday 3rd August, 2023

As we enter August, I walked over to Panteg Footbridge to catch the Machen Quarry to Lawley Street stone freight train, which was hauled by Freightliner 66418.
The stone train was looped in the siding for 15 minutes to allow for TFW 197016 to pass through on the passenger service from Cardiff Central to Holyhead. One that went through, 66418 proceeded on under the footbridge.
Then, I walked over to Pontypool & New Inn to catch the Donnington to Eastleigh empty container flats freight, hauled by GBRf 66776 'Joanne', with the driver giving off a nice little sound of the horn as the train passed through.
