Memories of Freight Trains on Gamston Bank.

Description
Gamston bank is just to the south of Retford on the East Coast Main Line. Heading south from Retford the gradient goes from level to 1 in 176 until the summit around Askham tunnel.

Around 10 years ago freight trains were common on this line, but nowadays are rare, now being routed via Spalding and Lincoln.
Trains heading south had their work cut out, especially if being held in Retford for a fast train to pass, those heading north drifted down the bank before applying power.

Enjoy these memories of varied freight trains on Gamston Bank.
