Nuneaton in February 1995, and despite the dull winter weather, there was still plenty of evidence of the old British Rail era hanging on.
This short archive film captures a selection of classic traction around Nuneaton, with Class 31s, Class 47s and a Mark 1 EMU all featuring. By this point the railway was already changing rapidly, but these familiar types were still very much part of everyday operations.
For railway enthusiasts, scenes like these offer a fascinating glimpse of the final years of traditional BR traction before the railway moved firmly into the post-privatisation era.
