Another Small Variety at Newport (South Wales) - Wednesday 10th June, 2020
Two GWR Class 125 HSTs were seen during the cloudy afternoon, one on the bridge, and one entering the station later on. A third HST, the New Measurement Train, is on a returning test train heading from Swansea to Derby R.T.C (Network Rail). The test train had travelled down to Swansea the previous day.
A few minutes later after that, the modern electric Class 800 Hitachi bullet train is seen making its way over the bridge, being followed by the old first generation Class 47 (47815), which was taking six Ex-GWR HST carriage stock from Ely Papworth Sidings to Newport Docks for scrapping.
The locomotive, which is ran by Rail Operations Group, had 'Thank You NHS' branding seen on its side. We had previously seen this loco in Newport (South Wales) about three weeks ago on May 20th going light engine on a lovely sunny day.
Then, after filming a Transport for Wales Class 170 unit from the side of the bridge, we stood by the fencing on the opposite side of Newport (South Wales), where we filmed two GWR Class 158 units joined together, DRS 66426 on the Tesco Express heading from Daventry to Wentloog, and a CrossCountry 170 heading out of the station.
Filmed on Wednesday 10th June, 2020.
