Triple Train Workings at Newport (South Wales) - Friday 3rd May, 2024

Three different train workings were filmed in one camera shot today at Newport (South Wales), and this was something of a rare moment that wouldn't be believed if it wasn't filmed.

DBC 67012 with DVT 82216 were seen on Platform 2 leaving Newport on the One Wales Express running from Manchester Piccadilly to Cardiff Central, where in an unusual movement, the One Wales Express went into the tunnels on the DRL, because top and tailed Freightliner Class 66s (66506 & 66508) were seen waiting in the opposite tunnels on the Machen Quarry to Uskmouth Power Station stone freight train, waiting for a path through Platform 2.

Then, sneaking up behind the camera was Freightliner 66589 running through Platform 3 on the East Usk Yard to Machen Quarry empty blue stone hoppers, and once the path into Platform 2 was cleared, stone train passes stone train as 66506 & 66508 then proceeded to Uskmouth Power Station.

All in all, an extremely lucky event to have been caught on camera, and on the right day, too!
