66598 on Freightliner Train & 67014 on One Wales Express - Newport (South Wales) - 27/11/24

Today in a less than long stay at Newport (South Wales), I went down to catch ‘The Cardiff Christmas Market Express’ steam charter that was running with a Black 5 from London Victoria to Cardiff Central, but due to having only an iPhone to film trains with, the severe cold weather, the lack of wearing a proper winter jacket and the lateness of the train, combined with it being turned on the Maindee Triangle on the way down, I decided to call it quits and head back home. Long story short, the winter weather was too much for me to handle, and I didn’t have the patience to wait any longer.

However, I did manage to instead catch a three train shot on the iPhone, which features 66598 on a Freightliner container movement running from Wentloog to London Gateway, shortly followed by 67014 running on a One Wales Express service from Manchester Piccadilly to Cardiff Central, exiting from Platform 1, and followed up with 197048 on a passenger unit service from Cardiff Central to Holyhead.

So despite not catching the steam engine as I originally planned, I’m happy enough with this three-in-one shot that was filmed.
