The Wrong Type of Cow
In July 2015, a Southeastern train hit a group of cows near Chilham and came off the rails. Gordon always said it was only a cow. Gordon was wrong.
This episode looks at why animal incursions are a genuine, ongoing headache for the network, why Britain never adopted the American cow-catcher, and how a single push-pull express at Polmont in 1984 quietly rewrote the rules on lineside fencing, front-end design and emergency response that are still in force today.
