Loco-Haulage in the Welsh Marches - Panteg & Pontypool - 28/04/22
1: LMS Jubilee steam engines 45596 'Bahamas' & 45590 'Leander' were working from Barry Tourist Railway to Carnforth Steamtown, having ran 'The Great Britain XIV' from Chester to Cardiff on the previous day. 'Bahamas' sounded her whistle as they steam through the former steelworks area.
2: West Coast ran a Northern Belle charter from Leeds to Cardiff Central, with 57316 and 47815 top and tailing the tour. For a change of pace, I decided to film this charter from the road bridge at Pontypool & New Inn, which is slowly progressing in its station upgrade.
3: Finally, DB Cargo 67017 leads the weekly One Wales Express service from Cardiff to Holyhead, with DVT 82229 on the back.
In conclusion, three forms of locomotive haulage pass through the Welsh Marches within an hour and a half, even in the cold windy breeze of the April spring.
