Before Eurostar Moved to St Pancras – Herne Hill Railway Action with Steam in 2006
Step back to 2006 for a fascinating look at trains passing through Herne Hill, where everyday commuter services share the tracks with Eurostar and a special steam appearance.
Filmed during the final years of Eurostar services from Waterloo International, these scenes capture the distinctive Class 373 trains travelling through South London before their move to St Pancras in November 2007.
Alongside the international trains, the familiar electric services keep the suburban railway moving, while a passing steam train brings the sights and sounds of an earlier age back to the tracks.
It’s a memorable combination of everyday railway life, international travel and steam nostalgia, preserved for us to enjoy again.
