Flirt Unit, Engineer Train & One Wales Express - Pontrhydyrun & Newport (South Wales) - 16/03/26

A small but busy morning features one unusual stock movement through Pontrhydyrun, outside of Cwmbran, on the Welsh Marches mainline, and two additional trains were filmed at Newport (South Wales).

At 08:45am in Pontrhydyrun, Europheonix 37510 is seen dragging a Transport for Wales Class 231 'Flirt' unit, 231006, from Cardiff Canton Sidings to Holyhead Car. M.D for tyre turning. The Class 37 made a really lovely noise as she powered through the Welsh Marches, no doubt waking up the neighbours in the area.

In the late morning at Newport (South Wales), few hours later, two Freightliner Class 66s, 66555 & 66550, are seen taking a Colas Rail civil engineers freight train from Westbury Down T.C to Long Dyke Junction, with the freight train being loaded with brand new pieces of track for maintenance works going on down in Margam.

Finally, DBC 67015 is seen running on the One Wales Express from Holyhead to Cardiff Central.

Overall, a nice little busy morning for a quiet Monday.
