Today, a pair of Class 50s were seen on a Pathfinders railtour called 'The Torbay & Dart Explorer', heading from Burton-on-Trent to Kingswear. It's seen passing through Filton Abbey Wood, making an awesome first generation sound, on Saturday 16th September, 2017.
The Class 50 locos used were 50007 'Hercules' & 50049 'Defiance', which were two locos that we had seen parked in a siding at the West Somerset Railway back in June, as they were both used to bring the Severn Valley Railway's Class 20s (D8059 & D8188) for the WSR's diesel gala weekend in that month.
While the tour was running a bit late, it was certainly the right weather to see these iconic first generation locos in action on the mainline.
