Westbury loco variety | 60022 'Ingleborough', 59001 'Yeoman Endeavour' + Merehead & Whatley Quarries

After seeing the Grids return to Merehead yesterday https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mr-ipHRDuGI&t=3s another great day exploring Westbury and the surrounding areas of interest!
We start at Merehead Quarry where another DCR loco which is capturing the headlines was back in the form of 60022 'Ingleborough', back after making a recent loaded train debut https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDErzskjOEI reversing its wagons back before we head over to Westbury station, which was a hive of activity and good to catch up with https://www.youtube.com/@MazeyRailSpotting spotting the 60 making a quick stop before continuing to Quainton Railhead, DB, Heavy Haul and Colas Class 66s working in the yard shunting around, the GBRF 57s heading for Fairwater on the RHTT, and various freight moves with 59001 'Yeoman Endeavour' making a welcome appearance.
We then head back to the two major rail served quarries in Somerset, firstly Merehead where 60029 'Ben Nevis' arrived with the inbound DCR working today and then a look at Hanson’s Whatley Quarry, which had a bit going on including Class 59s 59101 idling on the depot, and the large Hanson GM Switcher EMD SW1001 120 sounding out over the Mendips as it shunted stone wagons around the yard, while Positive Traction's UK's First Electric Quarry Locomotive 08787 'Battery Bill' was also on show!
Also included is a shot kindly sent by Mazey Rail Spotting https://www.youtube.com/@MazeyRailSpotting showing 69006 'John E Cronin' arriving with the engineers from Eastleigh East Yard this evening back into Westbury concluding another varied day of loco action in the region. | 27.10.2026
