Chinnor & Princes Risborough Gala | 2999 ‘Lady of Legend’ fails as 9F 92134, 6046 & 'Joyce' steam on

An enjoyable day at the first day of the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway Autumn Steam Gala today. A strong guest loco line up saw BR Standard single chimney 9F 2-10-0 92134 from the North Yorkshire Moors Railway visiting alongside GWR 2999 ‘Lady of Legend’ from Didcot Railway Centre, with S160 6046 and former S&DJR Steam Sentinel 7109 ‘Joyce’ completing the line up with the event blessed with some late Autumnal sunshine.

Things were not without drama as 2999 ‘Lady of Legend’ was failed early on in the morning with a fault and dragged back by the S160 from Princes Risborough to Chinnor where it is hoped she will be repaired to participate in the remainder of the event, but while she was sidelined, the 9F and S160 did a great job steaming along through the countryside with ‘Joyce’ offering brake van rides at Princes Risborough, an good little event as we head towards the end of the season and hopefully the Saint will be back in traffic. | 30.10.2026
