Description
Another 37 treat this week with 37057 ‘Barbra Arbon’ and 37610 in charge of the PLPR Test Train, making a very welcome change from the usual HST set.

Thursday saw the pair on the 1Q23 Reading - Exeter - Salisbury, and we see them hurry through Yeovil Junction.

On Friday, the pair headed the 1Q18 Reading Triangle Sidings - Paignton. 37057 looked resplendent in its Colas livery, and still wearing its split headcode boxes, unlike sister 37099 ‘Merl Evans’ whose undergone a recent facelift. We see them at Plymouth, before departing for Cornwall, and during their time away I took a trip to the Plym Valley Railway.

I was pleasantly surprised to see a lot going on at Marsh Mills, including the volunteers working hard on newly overhauled 5374 ‘Lord Oliver Brown’ undercover being painted up, the recently arrived ex GWR HST Power Cars and some complex shunting movements prior to the first services and ‘Lord Oliver Brown’s’ launch into traffic on Sunday 9th March. Back to the test train, which was making good time back from Cornwall, and the plan had been to head to Dawlish, and try to get a shot of the test train reversing back at Dawlish Warren to work the Paignton line, however it soon became clear all was not well. The train was showing delayed at Plymouth, and this led to the test train skipping the Paignton branch diagram altogether. A 1Z18 path direct from Netwon Abbot to Taunton appeared, cue a dash up to catch them at Taunton!

Again at Taunton they were booked to wait for around 2 hours but we see them in the last shot departing early on the 1Q19 Taunton - Paddington, which became a VSTP 1Z21 Reading - Derby R.T.C. | 06 - 07.02.2025
