Colas 37175 Storms 3Q47 Ultrasonic Test Train 7/5/25
The monthly Doncaster West Yard test train is starting to become a common sighting now for myself, and with this months paths slightly earlier, I thought I might go and see it.
The Doncaster West Yard tests have had a poor reliability over the course of the Winter period with lots of failures so extra runs have been done recently. This test train runs on a four week basis and has ranged between 37s and 43s over recent months.
To be honest, I was slightly disappointed when 37175 was allocated as it is a very average 37. I don't mind it as it powers normally (jab at Boden) but usually this test brings something interesting and I wasn't expecting 175. Also I'm still trying to stay away from 2024 RHTT locos but oh well.
Firstly, 37175 is seen starting up and preparing at Doncaster.
Then, 37175 is seen at full flow through South Milford with horns having just left Gascoigne Junction headed for Leeds.
