West Somerset Railway

The West Somerset Railway is one of the longest standard gauge heritage railways in the United Kingdom. It preserves the former branch line between Bishops Lydeard and Minehead, a route that originally served West Somerset and the coast before closure by British Rail. Preservation efforts began in the early 1970s, and the line was gradually reopened in stages as a heritage railway. Today it is known for its long rural route, traditional Great Western character, seaside connection and mixture of steam and diesel operation. The railway has become one of the major names in UK railway preservation and is valued both for its historic importance and for the scale of the journey it offers.

This page collects videos filmed at the West Somerset Railway. That includes lineside footage, station views, platform scenes, on-train recordings and general heritage railway atmosphere. Some clips focus on locomotives and train movements, while others show the landscape, stations and broader operating environment. It is a convenient way to explore railway videos associated with the West Somerset Railway in one place.
